Robert Wolthuis appointed general manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa to support continued business expansion

Amsterdam, Netherlands – 5 March 2007, Network Hardware Resale (NHR), a world leader in pre-owned and new networking equipment, today announced that business from the major European telcos contributed to its strong worldwide sales growth in 2006. In support of this growth, the company has appointed Robert Wolthuis as the company’s new general manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

NHR’s worldwide revenues in 2006 were $138.2 million, representing a 31 percent year-over-year growth rate. Deals with the leading European telecommunications companies played a major part. NHR now supplies all of the large telcos in Europe, providing a solid platform for future growth.

Robert Wolthuis succeeds Glenn Fassett, who recently transitioned from the company’s European HQ in Amsterdam to NHR’s growing Asia Pacific headquarters.

Wolthuis joins Network Hardware Resale from “Real Medical Technologies” in the Netherlands, where he was founder and CFO. Wolthuis will apply his experience as a business entrepreneur, venture capitalist and investment banker, in order to sustain market momentum in the region

Mike Sheldon, president and CEO of NHR said, “We are pleased to appoint Robert Wolthuis to lead our sales efforts and operations in EMEA, as the company continues to build on its market momentum worldwide. Our record worldwide revenues in 2006, coupled with our ongoing expansions are further proof of NHR’s company-wide commitment to being the ultimate source for pre-owned networking equipment.”

“In a market where IT budgets are flat or declining, end-users are finding the secondary market offers them lower total cost of ownership for network expansions, system upgrades, disaster recovery and testing,” said Robert Wolthuis, general manager EMEA at NHR. “We are able to offer readily available networking devices and components for as much as 90 percent off manufacturers’ list prices.

“Another factor is that replacements in the secondary market usually arrive within days compared with six to eight weeks from OEMs,” he continued. “This is of major importance when you are talking about keeping mission-critical networks up and running.”

Nearly 3,000 new customers chose NHR as a trusted source for pre-owned network routers, switches, access servers and IP telephony products in 2006.

In addition to the growing acceptance of the secondary market among enterprise customers, the company also cited steady international expansion, the introduction of new products and services and an ever-increasing global customer roster as other factors behind its business growth.
