Oracle's Web-Based Database Messaging Technology Integrated with Call
Sciences' Enhanced Services Platform to Provide Total Communications Solution

PR330 / 1st October 1997

Oracle has announced that it has joined forces with Call Sciences, a leading
provider of call management applications and value-added communication
services, to bring a powerful new unified call management solution to the
communications market.

The solution gives service providers the ability to deliver fully
integrated, web based, call and message management services to their
customers. Oracle and Call Sciences gave a live demonstration of the
solution at Oracle's main booth at Oracle OpenWorld '97 last week. By
combining the comprehensive message management capabilities of Oracle's
web-based database messaging product, Oracle InterOffice, with the
sophisticated call management features of Call Sciences' flagship product,
Personal Assistant, the companies are able to provide a solution with fully
integrated voice, e-mail and fax message delivery capabilities.

Personal Assistant is a single number service that links all of a user's
phone numbers (office, mobile, home), fax numbers and pagers to a single
number and makes it easy for users to stay in touch with callers anywhere in
the world. The integration with Oracle InterOffice, through industry
standard APIs, extends the capabilities of Personal Assistant to provide
Unified Messaging (integrated fax, e-mail and voice mailbox) capabilities
which can be accessed and managed via the Internet.

Oracle InterOffice allows voice and fax messages received by Personal
Assistant to be accessed in the home, office or on the move by any
web-enabled device such as a network computer, PC or personal digital
assistant. In addition, notification of e-mail received in the customers'
Unified Mailbox can be sent to the user using the Personal Assistant's
sophisticated search capabilities and can be delivered as a voice message
(using text-to-speech technologies) over a cellular or landline telephone.

"The integration of the sophisticated call management features of Call
Sciences' Personal Assistant service with the comprehensive message
management capabilities of Oracle Interoffice, signals the convergence of
the Internet with traditional voice based networks" said Atul Banerjee,
Market Development Specialist, Call Sciences. "Through this collaboration
with Oracle, Call Sciences is able to provide fully integrated voice, e-mail
and fax message delivery capabilities today."

"As a result of increasing competition in the communications market, service
providers need to develop more targeted, value-added services in order to
retain their most valuable customers," said Adrian Morrish, Marketing
Manager, InterOffice and Mobile Agents, Oracle UK. "This initiative with
Call Sciences shows how Oracle's technology enables the integration of
existing enhanced services, such as Personal Numbering, with the Web
allowing differentiation with respect to ease of use and availability of new
features afforded by the Internet."

Oracle InterOffice combines open, Web interfaces with the scalability,
reliability and flexibility of Oracle's industry-leading database software
to provide the collaboration benefits that people sought from traditional
groupware products. Unlike groupware, Oracle InterOffice is not restricted
by proprietary interfaces, lack of scalability and huge deployment costs to
improve collaboration across the enterprise and increase user productivity.

Oracle InterOffice scales to millions of users and is easy to develop,
deploy and manage. Where groupware was designed strictly for PCs, Oracle
InterOffice enables access for the wide range of user devices over
intranets, mobile networks and the Internet.

Headquartered in Edison, New Jersey, and Slough, U.K., Call Sciences is an
international developer of advanced telecommunications services and a
leading provider of Personal Number solutions corporate and personal use.
