Although 80 per cent of domestic appliance warranties are sold in shops*, many customers now choose to go home and shop around for the best prices for protection plans online, reports leading appliance warranty provider Domestic & General. The company have seen a 36% increase in UK visitors to their website Domestic & General and a 20% increase in the amount of revenue generated online.

Ben Rees, E-business Strategy Manager at Domestic & General, the largest specialist provider of appliance warranties in the UK, says ‘New flexible payment methods, a quote system that is easy to use, and increased speed generated by greater broadband access has made online warranty shopping a valuable alternative to the more traditional warranty routes’

‘The website offers a 10 per cent discount for new customers and we’re finding that customers are, in particular, taking out protection plans on their new LCD and plasma TVs. With prices as low as £59 for an LCD TV repair plan, it really is worth having a look at what’s available via the online marketplace.’
