22nd January 2008: Step back in time and be inspired by familiar fashions of the past 50 years with the launch of the fabulous new ‘bookazine’, 50 Years of Everyday Fashion on February 6, 2008. Yours Magazine has bought together a unique and visually stunning collection celebrating ordinary women who have resourcefully created glamour and sophistication on a shoestring over the past 50 years.

50 Years of Everyday Fashion takes inspiration from Yours magazine’s popular column ‘Caught On Camera’. Valery McConnell, Editor of Yours, says: “Our readers have given us a superb archive of images and stories celebrating their style and resourcefulness over the past five decades. This beautiful and evocative anthology remembers the everyday women who created fashion on a shoe-string and traces the social history of their lives.”

With London Fashion Week approaching, consumers will be bombarded with images of beautiful models wearing top designer togs. In contrast, 50 Years of Everyday Fashion portrays an eclectic mix of fashion and personal photography, intertwined with key moments in history in this glorious 132 page, glossy coffee-table publication.

Flicking through the decades: 40’s war-time utility clothing; the 50’s post-war feminine ‘New Look’; early 60’s chic and the fashion revolution later that same decade; 70’s midi dresses and Afghan coats; shell suits in the 1980’s and culminating with the rise of black in the 90’s, takes readers full circle to the more recent trends of baggy trousers, puffa jackets and cardigan coats. The bookazine is complemented by features on Royal fashion, accessories, make-up, weddings and quick quizzes to test if you really do know a puffball from your pencil skirt!

50 Years of Everyday Fashion is an inspiring read for any woman interested in style and clothes.

Valery McConnell added: “We are extremely excited and proud of 50 Years of Everyday Fashion. Our readers helped us realise that British women have a real passion for fashion and don’t need designer labels, or prices, to look good. We hope to evoke positive emotions in women who remember the clothes they once wore, and inspire the women of today to believe they can look the bee’s knees!”
