Stamp of approval means immediate development on 4th data centre.

Sentrum (, a specialist in data centre solutions, has today confirmed that its recent site acquisition in Woking, Surrey has been granted full consent for development. Branded ‘Sentrum IV’, the site boasts a impressive square footage of 584,000 with 200,000 sq ft being dedicated to state of the art technical space and a further 60,000 sq ft providing office and disaster recovery space. Work has already commenced on site.

With space available from August 2008, the rapid agreement to the planning consent demonstrates the increasing demand for data centre development outside London as a growing number of businesses strive to manage the information overload. This successful application is expected to be gratefully received across the industry, as businesses face a critical shortage of data centre space despite growing legislation to retain more data.

“The drive behind securing this facility clearly demonstrates Sentrum’s ongoing commitment to continue delivering the highest specification data centres to its customers, quickly,” said Andy Ruhan, CEO. “By investing in the shell of a property that has been left unoccupied from constructional completion, we have been able to take advantage of the existing structure in our development plans, thereby ensuring that the completed data centre will be available at the earliest possible date. With numerous applications for standalone developments being delayed for various reasons, the approach that we have taken will no doubt have a very positive impact in the market.”

The site in Woking is a self contained 12 acre site that will offer Tier 3+ levels of resilience along with enhanced security measures such as double fencing, vehicle trap and night vision CCTV coverage amongst others. For the full profile of this facility, please refer to:
