UPM Tilhill, the UK's leading supplier of forest and woodland management service, has continued its substantial growth and development throughout 2007 – the year which saw sales increase by over 22% - enabling the market leader to pass the £100 million threshold for the first time in its' sixtieth anniversary year.

UPM Tilhill's profits also grew to £4.1 million, which reflects the very good performance by all its' operating divisions. Performance has also been helped by positive impacts from both the increased timber and forest values experienced during the year together with reduced pension charges.

UPM Tilhill's strong growth is built on a strategic platform focused on four distinct business streams – Timber Harvesting, Forestry Management, Rail and Utility Arboriculture and Commercial Landscaping. These sectors complement each other, providing efficiencies and synergies which have combined to contribute to this continuing success story.

Steve Lavery, Managing Director, commented: "UPM Tilhill is delighted to have delivered particularly positive results to our shareholders, clients and staff alike. Our success is built on continually improving service levels whilst maintaining the highest possible professional standards – an approach clearly valued by both existing and new clients. We also recognise the intrinsic value of all our staff and will continue our investment in them in order to help them retain our leading position within the UK forestry and associated industries."

As 'The Leader for Tree Solutions' UPM Tilhill is in a key position to nurture and manage the forests and woodlands which contribute so much to our society. Good stewardship of trees and other natural resources not only fits with UPM's corporate values, but is critical to the ongoing success of our business and those of our clients.

Looking forward. growth areas identified for significant further investment by UPM Tilhill include the production of sustainable biomass wood supplies and UPM Tilhill, as the UK's leading supplier, will continue to extend its supply chain credentials within this expanding marketplace.
