FACT: There are around nine million people in the UK who suffer from some degree of hearing loss.

FACT: Hearing is one of our most vital but also most neglected senses.

FACT: Hearing loss doesn’t just affect the elderly.

During Deaf Awareness Week The Hearing Company is encouraging people to look after their hearing in the same manner as their eyesight by having regular FREE checks. We have a number of engaging interview and feature opportunities with hearing care experts in the build up to this national event including:

- Deaf for a Day. We will put you in touch with a hearing care audiologist from your local branch of The Hearing Company who will give you the opportunity to experience what it is like to be hard of hearing. A silicone substance will be inserted into your ears to mimic the effects of hearing loss. You can then go about everyday tasks, such as crossing the road, buying a drink in a crowded bar and making a phone call to experience what life is like for the hearing impaired.

- Day in the Life of an Ear. Our ears get a daily noise battering, from blow drying hair to sitting in traffic jams with the car stereo blasting out. We can help you measure the noise levels as you go about your daily business. Do they go over the 85 decibel safety level?

To arrange the above or to interview your local hearing care expert, please contact Nick Trueman or Nuala Ryan at Seal Communications.
