As Finalists for Best Alternative Act 2008, The Penny Black Remedy have been invited to perform live alongside The Buzzcocks and Starsailor at UK Indy Music Awards, The Kentish Town Forum, 25th April 2008

APRIL 22nd 2008 LONDON, UK – North London based band The Penny Black Remedy are set to play the UK Indy Music Awards finals this Friday 25th April. The Awards are the result of a nationwide search to highlight the best independent venues, promoters and artists in the UK. Short listed for the Best Alternative Act 2008, sponsored by Gibson guitars, The Penny Black Remedy will be showcasing their blend of Country, Balkan and Punk alongside other awards finalists with special performances by Starsailor and The Buzzcocks.

The Penny Black Remedy are proud to be performing at the Awards. Keith M Thomson (guitarist / songwriter) says “We’re honoured to have been short listed for the Indy Awards Finals and the invitation to perform on the night is our way of saying a massive thank you to everyone who voted for us.”

Continuing to build upon a string of seminal live shows The Penny Black Remedy are fast becoming known as a must see band. Talking after their pre-Indy Music Awards showcase at 229 Club, Great Portland Street, 29th February 2008, promoter Shaun Litton raved “The Penny Black Remedy don't really play venues, they more like storm them. A powerhouse of a band that reminds you just how powerful live music can be."

Following on from the Awards, The Penny Black Remedy have been invited as special guest support for:

The Outside Royalty, 28th April, Madame JoJos, Soho, London
Who are launching their single “Falling” on Bloody Awful Poetry Records

The Zen Hussies, 20th May, 100 Club, Oxford Street, London
Who are officially launching their EP “Continental Adaptor”

The Penny Black Remedy are rumoured to be using both Madame JoJos and the 100 Club performances as a testing ground for new material to be included on their highly anticipated debut album, due for release later this year. Their album (as yet to be named) will be recorded in Zagreb and Dubrovnik, Croatia.
