'Carter Presents' has curated 17 artists whose work veers between the pure and the kitsch, the sign and the craft of making in a focused and penetrating look at our skewed habitue.
Featured artists include: Gavin Turk, Mark Titchner, Bob and Roberta Smith, Gary Webb, Cedric Christie, Dallas Seitz, Thomas Draschan, Jonathan McLeod, Daniel Jackson, Danny Rolph, Mark Wright, Brian Reed, Will Tuck, Jamie Robinson, Claire DeJong, Lee Maelzer and Jonathan Gent.
‘Carter Presents’ has exclusively commissioned significant pieces of these artists' work as very limited edition Giclee and digital C-Type photographic prints to be produced at theprintspace. Each edition will be signed by the artist in a run of only 10 prints and will be exclusively sold through 'Carter Presents'.
Theprintspace is London’s first truly ‘DIY’ professional printing lab – as well as offering digital archival printing, theprintspace also host regular exhibitions of interest to the artistic and photographic community they have fostered. Open to the general public as well as clients, ‘10’ is one such event in theprintspace’s spring showcase.
In a bold step towards revitalising the conventional approach to top-end printing, theprintspace is the first ‘DIY’ printing lab in London. The revolution in printing which has been taking place in recent years both domestically and industrially offers boundless opportunities to artists to expand the boundaries of creativity and to produce very highly sophisticated and exciting works of art at the cutting edge of technology. Launched in October 2007, theprintspace occupies two floors of a 4000sq foot area comprising of exhibition space, retouching booths, walk-in print stations and large format digital C-type and Epson Giclée printers. The printspace’s innovative ‘DIY’ concept gives photographers, designers and visual artists the ability to produce their own professional prints on the highest specification digital equipment with a user-oriented, creative approach to print production.
'10' seeks to radicalise the general concept of an artist's print by redefining its form, working with new processes and offering limited edition prints ambitiously conceived and executed by each artist. Featuring 17 of the most exciting contemporary artists, and spanning a broad range of visual and mixed media including photography, ‘10’ is an exercise in experimenting with the form of the limited edition print as much as it is a showcase of established and emerging artists in Britain.
With the aim of democratising the top tier of photographic and fine art printing, theprintspace have turned the once-guarded technologies of colour profiles into common property. theprintspace is designed to give photographers total control over the final print, whilst offering proper technical support and full instructions. As such, theprintspace encourages its clients to act as ‘prosumers’, treating its profiles and printing hardware as platforms for creative invention. Colour-management is about to be demystified, simplified and made accessible. With the new era dawning on digital printing services, portfolios, end of year shows, and proper exhibitions are within everyone’s reach. Just follow theprintspace’s comprehensive colour-management instruction and off you go. Professional prints at affordable prices.
