Derby, UK - 12th May, 2008 – Nexsan, a leading provider of energy efficient long-term disk storage, today announced that it is ready to add additional resellers for its enterprise-class Apple products in the UK and the rest of Europe.

The opportunity follows Nexsan’s announcement of its 42 bay RAID system for Apple known as the SATABeast Xi in January of this year. In February, Apple announced that it was discontinuing its own Xserve RAID product.

SATABeast Xi is designed for storage of large data set applications like uncompressed, real-time HDTV as well as multi-stream and analogue TV signals and high quality video editing with no frame drops. It also is ideal for addressing secondary storage applications and disk-to-disk backup in which online access to data delivers superior business continuity and data protection as well as instant access to large volumes of data.

“Nexsan now offers Apple resellers the only really cutting edge alternative storage technology for their customers,” said Andy Hill, Nexsan’s VP sales, Europe. “There is no other cost correct, high density, energy efficient storage system optimized for the Apple Xserve and Mac Pro markets.

“By building strong partnerships with VARs that have first hand experience working with TV studios and film production houses that have chosen to base their systems around the Apple platform we aim to become the storage system of choice for such customers,” he added.

SATABeast Xi consumes up to 25 times less electricity than traditional storage systems, and features Nexsan’s AutoMAID technology that places low usage disk drives in an idle state to conserve energy yet still provides near-instantaneous access to data.

With the only dual function Fibre Channel and iSCSI connectivity with wire-speed performance, the SATABeast Xi is flexible, scalable and completely OS independent to easily support a broad range of storage and computing infrastructures. Although optimized for the Apple Xserve and Mac Pro environments, SATABeast Xi is equally at home in mixed environments.

Nexsan products are some of the highest reliability storage products in the industry. The SATABeast Xi is designed and built on the same technology and manufacturing as its established brother the SATABeast. The SATABeast technology has been shipping since 2004 and has 17,000 systems in the field.

Further, the SATABeast Xi is backed by one of the best support infrastructures in the world. Nexsan provides worldwide service, 24 x 7 and 4 hour response support. Nexsan has partnered with Kodak Services, a worldwide leader in service and support to provide parts depots and onsite support around the world. Nexsan has Apple-trained and experienced technical specialist available to provide around the clock support.

Nexsan has also made the necessary investments to test and support a variety of Apple products and solutions. Nexsan has a variety of Apple technology and solution partners including QLogic, Atempo, Hitachi Global Storage and Seagate working together to provide tested and supported solutions.
