A UK based social network for social entrepreneurs topped 170 other European start-ups into first place In a European Web 2.0 Start-up competition, and booked a place in the official finals in Barcelona this month.

It has been announced today that out of the 171 ‘web 2.0’ start-ups to enter the Start-up 2.0 2008, a competition to award the most innovative start-up in the EU, a UK based social enterprise networking platform has finished in top place of the web 2.0 winners as voted for on Facebook., has today been declared the winner of a competition that sought to promote and reward the most innovative European start-ups that work in the field of Web 2.0 technologies as voted for by Facebook users.

The awards partners include La Caixa bank, Microsoft and Sun Microsystems along with media partners that include Mashable and TechCrunch and are a sought after prize for the many start up companies based across Europe.

To find the ten finalists there was a Facebook poll; which UnLtdWorld won, 6 projects selected by the International jury and three as voted for by the Alianzo blog network.

UnLtdWorld will now go on as one of the ten finalists to represent their service in Barcelona on May 21st, where they will have to pitch their service to the international panel of judges.

The jury includes Mike Butcher, the editor of TechCrunch, Google's Geomarketing services world manager Bernardo Hernández, strategist Daniel Waterhouse who prior to joining 3i spent 6 years with Yahoo, and other highly influential bloggers such as Loic Le Meur, who has recently started up Seesmic, which is a twitter-like video exchange system.
