For immediate release:
London Assembly Member Roger Evens welcomes the China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe.
On Friday 23rd May at 11.00am, London Assembly Member Roger Evens, together with The Chinese in Britain Forum are holding a press conference at London City Hall to welcome the China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe to the UK.
The CDPPAT are in London to perform their groundbreaking extravagant show My Dream as part of a UK tour. The tour will raise funds for victims of the Sichuan earthquake, and the theme of My Dream - reaching your dreams despite adversity has become even more poignant.
That the performers are all severely disabled in some way may catch attention, but as the founder of the Troupe Ms Tai Lihua says, “despite disabilities we pursue perfection.”
Mr Steve Lau, Chair of the Chinese in Britain Forum says:
“The Chinese in Britain Forum is delighted that London Assembly Member Roger Evens will be welcoming the China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe to London and the UK.
Through My Dream, the CDPPAT continue to show theatregoers around the world that people with disabilities can take part in all aspects of community life.
We are humbled by the fact that the CDPPAT has agreed to donate their fees from all UK performances to relief aid for the victims of the recent devastating earthquake in China. The CIBF likewise, is going to be donating all profits from the London performances of My Dream to the Earthquake Disaster Relief Fund being co-ordinated by the Confederation of Chinese Associations in the UK.”
