In its constant bid to increase the creative options for photographers and visual artists, the development team at theprintspace are happy to announce they will now be stocking two new paper stocks β Fuji Clear and Fujiflex. Both of these paper types are part of the Fuji Crystal Archive standard of printing materials, designed exclusively for digital output on large-format laser printers. The printing material yields high-quality prints when used with a digital laser process, such as theprintspaceβs digital C-Type printer, the Chromira. Both of these papers are archive standard Silver Halide printing materials, the current choice for print collectors and exhibitors around the world.
Fuji Flex is a newly developed supergloss surface, which is suitable for a variety of uses, such as large-sized displays and photo exhibitions. Great for fashion and glamour, and with an amazing level of dark and vivid colour, Fuji Flex is a versatile surface which allows for an amazing depth of tone without the excessive reflections of other glossy surfaces. Images printed on Fuji Flex appear as punchy and sharp as their gloss counterparts, but without the surface reflection of resin coated papers β endlessly versatile, perfect for portfolios, and acetate sleeves are no longer necessary!
Dura Clear is a brand new clear-base print surface, similar to the Fuji Trans which is also stocked by theprintspace. However its base level has none of the opacity that characterises the Trans. Fuji Clear has a definite edge when backlit - great for night time shots and installations with fluorescent lightboxes.
The Chromira is the workhorse of theprintspaceβs digital C Type operation. Creating digital C41 process prints up to 30β wide, and taking up the area of a small room, it is considered by those in the know as the cutting edge in digital photographic printing. Since a digital C Type is a true photographic process print, the colour integrity and ability for C Types to produce subtle variance of tone is unparalleled. On a digital ctype print printed at 300 pixels per inch, theprintspaceβs Chromira allows for 256 varying levels of exposure for each pixel. Using LED diodes to expose the paper, this means that for each red, green and blue channel, 256 levels of tone are able to be produced. The result - over 16.7 million possible variations of colour for each of the 300 points in an inch! In contrast to an inkjet print, which only allows for half-and-full-tone dots, digital C Types are truly a revolutionary step in the ability for photographers, graphic designers, and visual artists to produce truly beautiful prints.
The ability for clients to have complete control over their images is the center of theprintspace philosophy. With a combination of a user-friendly, creative print workflow and a variety of professional printing surfaces available, the ability to create digital ctype and Epson Giclee prints at the highest level is no longer limited to a select few. Aimed at creating a platform for the truly innovative use of the new resources provided by our digital era, theprintspace ensure there are as many ways as possible to create masterful prints.
Theprintspace use Fuji Crystal Archive series surfaces after extensive market testing. Working alongside Fuji technicians on a regular basis, theprintspace strives to ensure not only that their profiling and calibration systems are working at optimum at all times, but also to work together to push the envelope of top-end digital printing technologies and their uses in the photographic and fine art industries. Crystal Archive papers have a marked ability to retain beautiful colours such as subtle shades of green, vivid blues and reds, improved highlight details and truly brilliant whites - as well as high image stability in the long-term.
