Schillings, one of Britain’s top law firms which is dedicated to safeguarding the reputations of international corporations, brands, celebrities and high-profile business people, has just announced the appointment of barrister Korieh Duodu, to further strengthen its already formidable media litigation team.
Korieh Duodu, formerly part of the legal department at Guardian News and Media, has joined Schillings as a Senior Associate, bringing with him additional expertise to the firm having worked on behalf of the media in many media litigation cases, as well as possessing full rights as a barrister.
As a barrister with a broad and substantial range of experience in media litigation, and expertise in defamation and privacy cases, Schillings felt that the appointment would add a valuable extra dimension to their team who pride themselves on working on behalf of claimants against the media, which enables them to respond immediately to conflict of interest requests by completely eliminating any risk in advance. The addition of Korieh, with his expert knowledge from the media's side of legal disputes will provide a precious additional perspective for the expanding team at Schillings, allowing a faster response and an increased ability to pre-empt the media's strategies.
Korieh joins the firm as part of an experienced team run by Partner Gideon Benaim, who was recently shortlisted as Partner of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2008, and has extensive trial and appeal experience, representing high profile clients like Oscar-winning director Roman Polanski in the House of Lords in his successful bid to give evidence at his libel trial by video link from Paris.
Schillings is one of Britain’s top law firms dedicated to safeguarding the reputations of international corporations, brands, celebrities and high-profile business people.
The firm’s partners have won a reputation for securing significant rulings. Its ground-breaking privacy work in a claim by Naomi Campbell against the Daily Mirror in 2004 secured a landmark ruling by the House of Lords to protect personal privacy.
In 2006, Schilling helped City stockbrokers Collins Stewart Tullett plc to resolve a major defamation case against the Financial Times as well as being the first lawyers to enable a claimant to provide real-time live video evidence in a trial - without even being in the same country on behalf of film producer Roman Polanski.
Used alongside clients individual PR capabilities, Schillings have helped many realise that the law is a powerful tool in the day-to-day process of controlling what is written or broadcast about businesses and enhancing the battle to protect a corporate brand, company share price, consumer relationship or an individual’s reputation or career.
