Kate Burns recruits former Google colleague to join her at leading video-sharing site

London 4 June 2008 -- Dailymotion, the world's largest independent video sharing site, has appointed Gareth Walton as Commercial Director. Reporting to Managing Director Kate Burns, Walton will be responsible for revenue creation from international advertising sales and commercial partnerships. He will recruit a team to work with brand advertisers and their on and offline agencies as well as managing video advertising networks.
With 36.6 million unique users per month, Dailymotion offers a mix of official content from partners such as Channel 4, Turner Broadcasting and Universal Music, user-generated content and moderated content uploaded by approved ‘Motionmakers’, which is enhanced by Dailymotion’s programming team. Walton will oversee bespoke content and commercial deals including, homepage and channel sponsorships and in-stream advertising, including pre-roll, post-roll and toaster advertising, as well as a range of other creative solutions.

Walton previously worked with Kate Burns at Google for five years and before that at AltaVista from 2000 to 2002 where he managed advertising across a range of formats in the UK and across Europe.

Walton was Google’s fourth hire in the UK and helped start the travel team managing clients including Expedia, British Airways and TUI. He also worked at SearchRev as Business Development Director and started his career in marketing for the Information Security Forum established by PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
