The Lord Mayor of Birmingham Councillor Chauhdry Rashid was present for a ‘slice of the action’ at the opening of new offices for one of the Region’s fastest growing telecoms companies.

The Lord Mayor joined Bernadette Wightman, Small and Medium Business Operations Director of Cisco, to congratulate Birmingham based Interactive Telecoms on their continuing expansion and the opening of new offices and state of the art training and demonstration suite. They celebrated the opening by cutting a cake specially prepared by students of the nearby University College.

They joined over 70 invited guests including customers and suppliers of Interactive.

In his speech, the Lord Mayor thanked Interactive for creating new jobs in this fast growing sector - and for their support for the charity Heart Research UK whose new Midland’s office is nearby.

Bernadette Wightman, who is also responsible for Cisco’s Corporate and Social Responsibility strategy in the UK, said Interactive was setting a great example to other small and medium sized companies with their emphasis on education and their pro-active approach to local community links..

Interactive Telecoms, based in Birmingham’s Jewellery quarter recently presented University College Birmingham (formerly the College of Food Tourism and Creative Studies) with a new state of the art telecoms server designed by CISCO and worth over £5,000. The Company is also supporting Heart Research UK.
