Vector Networks adds System Snapshots to PC remote view and control suite, NetSupport PC-Duo
Tamworth, August 26th 1999 - PC management specialists, Vector Networks announces the addition of a System Snapshot capability to its flexible and comprehensive corporate remote view and control solution: NetSupport PC-Duo.
As Help Desk and Remote Server Management operations grow in sophistication, Vector has taken the lead in tightly integrating a sophisticated system interrogation module into their baseline remote control product NetSupport PC-Duo. This first in the industry is particularly valuable in both the user support help desk and remote server management roles that NetSupport PC-Duo is employed in by many corporations world-wide.
With just two mouse clicks, the new System Snapshot facility provides a rich and accurate picture of the hardware and configuration of a remotely controlled PC or NT Server. Without the need to run any additional programs on the remotely managed system, System Snapshot delivers the information needed to sort out many common problems facing Help Desk and Server Management staff e.g.
- Comprehensive network information - address, IP details etc. - can reveal the source of connectivity problems.
- Help desk operators can ascertain if there is sufficient memory to run a program effectively.
- An out of date version or Service Pack of the Operating System can be easily identified.
The new system interrogation module in the PC-Duo desktop client comes from Vector's LANutil32 Suite. Its integration with PC-Duo to provide the System Snapshot facility has been achieved seamlessly with a unified PC-Duo Client installation routine.
The rich and accurate data is presented in a set of 18 tabbed display sheets, with a summary sheet and 17 sheets dedicated to detail. The data can simply be printed or customers wishing to store the information in a database can opt for LANutil32 Elite, which features a common hardware and software inventory basis and software distribution. These capabilities are combined with NetSupport PC-Duo’s full remote view and control functions such as the ability to easily cope with varying display resolutions and excellent handling of cross-platform viewing e.g. Windows ’98 to Windows NT v4.
