LONDON, 25th June 2008 – Interxion, a leading European provider of carrier-neutral data centres, is to host a Point of Presence for the London Internet Exchange (LINX) in its London City data centre. The move allows Interxion’s 1,000 plus customers the potential of peering directly with LINX’s extensive member base, which includes almost all of the major UK ISPs and content delivery service providers plus many more from around the world.
LINX is one of the world‘s largest internet exchanges, providing a neutral interconnection facility and peering platform for its 280 plus members who have over 570 connected ports, 110 of which are 10GigE ports. LINX joins Interxion’s roster of 450 plus carrier and network partners that provide connectivity from its sites across Europe.
“Partnering with Interxion is a key step in resolving the shortage of premium colocation space at our current London sites for our members. This allows us to look to the future with real confidence,” said John Souter, CEO of the London Internet Exchange. "With the availability of power and capacity so important in City of London, it is reassuring that Interxion has taken the necessary steps to meet the current and future demands of the industry."
“As we continue to attract customers who look to place their equipment at the heart of the Internet the LINX partnership will become increasingly important,” said Greg McCulloch, MD of Interxion UK. “LINX will allow our customers to gain greater control of their network traffic by giving them the choice to peer directly to the LINX exchange at the Interxion London City site, in combination with the highest standards of resilience and availability and access to high density power.”
