17 July, 2008 – London, UK - Samsung Electronics, a leading innovator in the world’s technology industry, today announced the appointment of Neil Sawyer as Head of Marketing for European Printing. Neil’s appointment is the latest addition to Samsung’s European printer team which has doubled during 2008, as the company focuses its efforts on this market.

In his new role, Neil will be responsible for managing all end-user and channel led marketing campaigns across Europe, helping the company in its quest to grow the laser printer business to become the market leader by 2012. Neil is one of the first recruits employed by Graham Long, who joined the company in June 2008 to the lead the European printer business.

Neil has spent the past 6 years working for Hewlett-Packard (HP) in the UK, most recently as head of B2B Enterprise and Public Sector Marketing for the company’s Imaging and Printing Group. During this time, Neil worked as part of a team that contributed significant revenue growth in the Corporate and Enterprise printing sector. Neil’s time at HP also gave him extensive experience of managing marketing agencies across the EMEA region, where he introduced a robust marketing infrastructure that demonstrated strong return for investment across all marketing activities.

Samsung has significantly expanded its presence in the European printer market in recent years, achieving $550million revenue in Europe in 2007, a 41% increase on 2006 and targeting 52% growth in 2008[1]. The company’s target is to become one of the very top brands in the laser printer market by 2012. In order to fuel this growth the company is investing heavily in its workforce and marketing efforts across the region, together with significantly expanding its product and solutions portfolio.
