-Pudding Lane’s premium handcrafted puddings impress all year long-

Pudding Lane at Speciality & Fine Food Fair 2008, 7-9 September, Olympia, London: STAND 424

The ever-popular Christmas pudding can be traced back to the 1420s, and Pudding Lane draw upon this rich heritage to create a sensational selection of traditional and delicious desserts.

Australia-based Pudding Lane ( uses traditional production methods, along with only the finest quality regional ingredients, to create a delicious twist on the great British Christmas pud – or as the perfect ending to a Sunday roast any time of the year! Alongside the authentic traditional Christmas puds, Pudding Lane offers a range of tempting flavour combinations such as Date & Toffee, Rum & Raisin and Chocolate & Orange to create a delicious alternative for people who appreciate the finer things in life.

With 700,000 Britons visiting Australia each year, many over the Christmas holiday, it’s no wonder Pudding Lane’s exquisite puddings have been such a resounding success in the UK since its launch one year ago. Now you can bring the warmth of Australia home in time for Christmas without the expense or air miles!

The range includes the traditional Christmas Pudding wrapped in stylish white calico (the puddings are boiled in the cloth), Macadamia and Brandy Pudding and the award-winning Date and Toffee Log.

Chocolate lovers can indulge their passion at any time of year with Pudding Lane’s latest range of decadent chocolate puddings. The Chocolate & Orange Log and Chocolate Rum & Raisin Pudding Log will feature at the SFFF08 (STAND 424). Made in the traditional round shape, or as a log for easy slicing, the Triple Chocolate and Chocolate Macadamia complete the range.

Michael Puddings, managing director of Pudding Lane in Australia, said: “Dark chocolate is the ultimate true chocolate and good dark chocolate is the only ingredient to use in the finest recipes. We work tirelessly to source the best quality and finest tasting ingredients such as Australian dark chocolate, French orange liqueur and tropical Queensland rum. Sometimes we all wish Christmas wasn’t just once a year – I say, why does it have to be? Why not treat yourself to a Christmas pudding or tasty Chocolate Log any time of the year?”

The award-winning, family-owned and managed company is passionate about fine food and draws on the best Australia has to offer for its range of puddings, ensuring they are packed full of regional ingredients including brandy from the Barossa Valley in South Australia and golden macadamia nuts from Tropical North Queensland. Each product is free from artificial ingredients and additives.

Each pudding is individually formed and shaped into lined, natural boiling cloths and "boiled-in-the-cloth" for many hours before being individually hung to dry, age and mature. This traditional production method ensures each pudding is one of a kind. All puddings are available in sizes from 500g to 3kg.

The sumptuous puddings have been entered into the SFFF’s Great Taste Award, which has become the benchmark for fine foods in the UK. The winners will be announced ahead of the show in September 2008.

Pudding Lane director Michael Puddings added: “We are passionate about fine ingredients and confident in our puddings. I am sure the award-winning combination of top-notch Australian ingredients, our traditional method of making them individually by hand, and the superb family recipe will ensure they are a hit with the judges at the Great Taste Awards. Consumers in Australia and the UK understand that you get what you pay for when it comes to food and drink. We produce handmade, traditional, great-tasting, natural puddings that people can enjoy without worrying about added ‘nasties’. We are a boutique producer but we have big plans for the future.”
