Steve Bailey, director of Reed Screening (Reed’s pre-employment screening division) has announced the firm’s membership of NAPBS (National Association of Professional Background Screeners) Europe, the national screening body recently established as the European arm of the association founded in the US in 2003.

Steve Bailey said: “I have been involved in this sector from its onset, and I’m pleased to see the market maturing and the adoption of self-regulatory group with a wide church of professional screening members. We owe a lot to the US where the NAPBS has established itself as the voice of the industry in the United States and is reaching out across the world to form a global screening alliance to expand its efforts.”

Mr Bailey, who has been appointed co-chair of NAPBS, added: “As well as screening Reed candidates we are a stand-alone business that services many external clients even if they’re not using Reed Recruitment. As well as permanent appointments we can provide screening prior to temporary placements, with special reference checking being offered for temporary workers placed in banks and financial organisations.”

Reed, one of the UK's biggest recruitment and HR services providers, has grown from one office in 1960 to the 410 office, 3,700 employee business it is today. More than 2.5 million candidates are now registered on, more than any other UK job site.
