Wednesday 30 July 2008 PDF Print In such an unstable economic climate, extra praise is due to the men and women who help struggling businesses through the rough times and create stakeholder value for all concerned. The Institute for Turnaround is calling for nominations for the 2008 Europe’s Top Turnaround Awards on Monday 1st December at the Troxy in London. This hotly contested awards include winners such as Booker plc, Dr Martens, My Travel, Mid Cheshire Hospital Trust, Jon Moulton and in 2007 Sir Stuart Rose, Executive Chairman of Marks & Spencer taking away the Chairman’s Special Award for achievement and contribution to turnaround. There are 10 categories in which you can enter or nominate a worthy contender. The categories include Listed Company, Private Company, International Company, Public Sector which includes charities, International Turnaround, Turnaround Financier and Turnaround Professional. 2008 sees the introduction of 3 new categories. Turnaround Legal Adviser will be awarded to a firm or person who has shown innovation and commerciality when tackling turnaround issues of a legal nature. They will be at the top of their field. Recognising the SME sector as the backbone of the British economy, this year the Institute for Turnaround calls for nominations for successful turnarounds within the SME sub £20m market which have included both financial and operational aspects to the turnaround. And last is the introduction of the Turnaround Rising Star. Not everyone can be at the helm and this award will go to someone who was an outstanding part of the team going above and beyond what was expected. This person would also be likely to steer their own ship one day. The 1st December will bring together 600 of the UK’s top turnaround executives and business leaders, whose achievements in restoring value to distressed companies will be celebrated.
