..Unveils new Internet-friendly keyboard and colour flatbed

IBM today launched its latest Rapid Access Keyboard and
colour flatbed scanner. The Rapid Access keyboard II allows
users to access favourite web sites at the touch of a button
and also, due to a portal alliance with Lycos, reach
personalised web pages with one touch. It also simplifies
Internet navigation with 'Easy Surf' buttons to move between
web pages and comes complete with a full audio control panel
for playing CDs.

Depending on the keyboard language, the Internet button
presents the user with geography specific content, links to
valuable, locally relevant IBM sites and offers and the
ability to launch a personal Internet start page. This page
can be customised to present information such as local news,
sports, and weather and personalised to users' liking -
colour, design and layout.

The new keyboard saves time and hassle for both business and
home users. In addition to its enhanced web capability,
buttons can be programmed to open commonly used files,
functions or applications.

The IBM Rapid Access II Keyboard is currently available
worldwide in stealth black or pearl white for an estimated
reseller price of 25.00 UK Pounds (1).

IBM also launched a new colour flatbed scanner, the IBM
IdeaScan 2000. It features a Universal Serial Bus (USB)
interface and five Simple Access Buttons for scan, fax,
copy/print, cancel and custom functions with a touch of a

The IdeaScan 2000 provides single-pass scanning of images as
large as 8.5 x 11.7-inches and delivers a 600 x 1200 dpi
optical resolution and 9600 dpi enhanced resolution.

The IdeaScan 2000 connects to any Pentium -based system
running Windows 98 that has an available USB port and CD-ROM
drive. Printer compatibility issues are minimised since the
IdeaScan 2000 does not connect to the system's parallel

The IdeaScan 2000 colour flatbed scanner comes with ScanSoft
PaperPort 6.1 to help manage your files and convert pages to
text using Xerox TextBridge Classic OCR. It also comes with
the ArcSoft PhotoStudio Suite, which includes PhotoStudio
V3.0, PhotoPrinter V2.0, PhotoFantasy V2.0, and PhotoMontage

The IBM IdeaScan 2000 is currently available worldwide for
an estimated reseller price of 86.00 UK Pounds (1). Both the
IBM Rapid Access Keyboard and IBM IdeaScan are protected by
a one-year limited warranty (2).
