keynote address on the future of the Internet.

announced today that it has been selected by Swisscom to
provide the official high performance communications network
for TELECOM '99. The TNet'99 network will provide state of
the art Internet and multimedia services and connect 1,200
exhibitors who will be demonstrating their solutions to over
200,000 visitors and many more virtual participants. TELECOM
'99, one of the world's largest trade shows, is being held
at the Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland in October.

supply high speed Unified Networks* solutions based on the
market leading OPTera* metropolitan Dense-Wavelength
Division Multiplexing (D-WDM) system, the Accelar* router,
and the BayStack* Ethernet switch, as well as training and
network management services. Nortel Networks is
collaborating with Carrier 1 (ISP), CommSwitch (cable
installation), Hewlett Packard (PCs and network monitoring),
Lucent Technologies (cabling supply) and Swisscom IP Plus
(ISP) to build the network.
Nortel Networks will have live and multimedia demonstrations
of the four pillars that are the foundation of the high
performance Internet - the Optical Internet, Internet
Telephony, Wireless Internet and Intranet Services, as well
as eBusiness solutions. Participants are welcomed to see the
future at booth number 130, located in Hall 4 and to attend
John Roth's keynote speech at the opening of the conference
programme, Forum'99, between 1030-1200 hours, on Sunday,
10th October, 1999.
