Bull signs £400,000 BaaN contract with Wix Filtration Products Europe

Bull, the largest European based BaaN integrator, today announced the installation of a BaaN Ivc solution at Wix Filtration Products Europe, a leading supplier of filters to the automotive industry. The nine month contract is worth £400,000 and the project is due to go live in summer 2000. Wix selected Bull from a shortlist of three leading suppliers due to its ability to provide a competitive and cost-effective offer as well as its experience in the UK automotive industry.

The implementation is based on BaaN’s Dynamic Enterprise Model for Automotive Suppliers, which is a proven template for suppliers to the automotive industry and is enabling Wix to re-engineer its business processes and implement changes more quickly. The BaaN solution will extend to 60 Wix users and will support the company’s supply chain processes across the enterprise, including areas such as order processing, manufacturing and distribution planning and financials.

Bull will be installing the BaaN software on an Oracle 8 database and a Hewlett Packard Windows NT Server. The solution also includes EDI message management using third party software, BACS and barcode integration, and involves data transfer from the existing systems. Bull’s technical support team will support the complete implementation.

In addition, Bull will be providing BaaN consultancy and transferring application and technical skills to the Wix project team and end users. Wix will work with Bull to replace an ageing, outsourced system, which was expensive to run, inflexible and slow.

Alan Hunt, Manufacturing Business Unit Manager, Bull, said: "With increasing pressure on suppliers in the automotive industry to deliver quality products in a timely and cost-effective manner, companies are relying on good, fast IT systems to achieve competitive advantage. The combination of BaaN’s industry-leading ERP system and Bull’s implementation and consultancy skills makes this is a powerful solution for today’s automotive companies."

Alan West, General Manager, Wix Filtration Products Europe, commented: "The new BaaN system will enable company information to be accessed more quickly and easily by our staff. As a result of installing BaaN at Wix, we will be able to access useful management information and anticipate greater efficiencies in terms of time and productivity as well as general improvements in the way we work together."

"Bull’s direct experience in managing implementations of this kind in the automotive industry was a deciding factor in our selection and they have shown a professional and committed approach to our project," he added.

As a BaaN International Consulting Partner since 1991, Bull has a successful track record of implementations with Wix Filtration Products Europe’s parent company, Dana Industrial Europe and has been an active player in the manufacturing industry for more than 25 years. With over 400 fully trained and dedicated BaaN consultants implementing manufacturing projects across Europe, Bull’s business units provide BaaN services on a national and international level, supported by five UK competence centres.
