QuickLive Commerce at the heart of expanding multi-channel, fashion retailer’s eBusiness strategy

London – 11 August 2008. hybris (, a leading multi-channel communication and commerce software vendor, and its strategic partner Portaltech (, are pleased to announce that Long Tall Sally ( ), the UK’s leading fashion retailer for tall women, has selected QuickLive Commerce as its preferred e-Commerce platform. Long Tall Sally’s selection of QuickLive Commerce is the first contract to be signed following the launch of the Portaltech/hybris joint proposition to the UK market at Internet World in April 2008. Portaltech’s QuickLive Commerce is designed to appeal to new and existing online merchants that need to develop or upgrade their e-Commerce website(s) and take advantage of next generation customer experience technologies, with the underlying hybris flexibility to customise and enhance the solution to their own unique requirements.

The state-of-the-art solution, developed by Portaltech, will provide the flexibility and functionality that Long Tall Sally needs to manage its existing online, catalogue and retail channels in the UK. It will also provide the ongoing scalability and multi-currency capabilities that the company requires to expand its presence in the US and across Europe as part of its long term plans to build the brand globally.

Long Tall Sally’s decision to invest in QuickLive Commerce will enable the company to launch and manage multiple sites with relative ease. The new platform will be easier to maintain, require less training and eliminate much of the costly integration of disparate technologies, reducing the overall cost of ownership. The integrated content management system will ensure that website content can be readily updated by marketing professionals resulting in a fresh content being made available on demand by the business. In addition to this, the latest product information and pricing is available from a single source, whether it is accessed via the online channel, via the established mail order catalogue and call centre operators or in-store. The new e-Commerce system will significantly enhance the company’s online merchandising and promotional capabilities, enabling the company to drive sales conversion rates through its full-text search facility, interactive product recommendation and a user review system that allows customers to rate products and buyer experience overall.

Andrew Shapin, Managing Director at Long Tall Sally, said: "hybris has a proven track record in delivering leading edge e-Commerce solutions for international organisations and we look forward to benefitting from its best of breed functionality incorporated into QuickLive Commerce. Their experience in delivering multi-language, multi-currency e-Commerce was particularly important for us and we are confident that our investment will provide a firm foundation for our business in the long term.”

The first phase in the migration to the new QuickLive Commerce platform will be the launch of the UK online shop in October to promote the Christmas catalogue in the run up to the Christmas peak sales period.

Mark Adams, Portaltech’s Sales Director comments: “Long Tall Sally is an important first client for the QuickLive solution as it is a perfect example of an organisation that will benefit from the flexibility and scalability that the solution offers. Specifically designed to appeal to retailers that need greater control over their e-Business initiatives; that require richer functionality to improve conversion, and more powerful integration capabilities to support web channel growth, QuickLive is genuinely next generation e-Commerce.”

Shapin added: “Portaltech understood our complex e-Commerce requirements in a very short time frame. The highly responsive and innovative team provided the detailed technical documentation and implementation methodology we needed to have absolute confidence in their ability to implement the QuickLive Commerce platform in an extremely short timeframe.”

Andy Piscina, UK Country Manager for hybris, commented: “QuickLive Commerce is the most sophisticated, flexible and scalable commerce platform available to small-to-medium sized retailers today. We are confident that Long Tall Sally’s investment in QuickLive Commerce, with hybris as the underlying technology, will future proof their e-Business strategy.”
