82,500 sq ft manufacturing and office space at Mitcheldean, Gloucestershire
Stoneridge-Pollak Ltd and Vantage Developments have released an 82,500 sq ft manufacturing & office space at Vantage Point Business Village, Mitcheldean for occupancy from December 2008. Unit 4 provides ideal assembly areas for mechanical, electrical or electronic component production. The manufacturing area is supported by a modern 9,800 sq ft office block built to the latest specifications on two floors.

The manufacturing area includes laboratories and other facility areas which are suitable for testing, prototyping, CAD/CAM, quality control, R&D and other technical activities. Originally the home of Xerox Electronics, the whole unit was completely refurbished in 2004-5. Following the acquisition of the Xerox site, Vantage Developments built a new 9,800 sq ft office block, re-roofed the entire complex, and carried out other enhancements to bring the site to the best current manufacturing standards. In addition Stoneridge-Pollak completely overhauled site facilities including compressed air services, installed a modular electrical power distribution network to serve the entire production floor and developed an automated guided vehicle (AGV) network for component transport.

Unit 4‘s production area is a steel truss frame construction built to a high specification, with a clear working height to the underside of the frame of 5.20 metres. The new 2-storey office block was built in 2004 and integrated with the production floor.

The 70,757 sq ft production area is tiled throughout with high quality ESD materials to ensure excellent conditions for the assembly of electrical and electronic devices. A high level busbar electrical distribution system allows complete flexibility of production layout. Compressed air distribution is also available on the same set of modules. The complete compressed air system is available for purchase for any new tenants of Unit 4. Power distribution and air pipelines are included. All internal services are laid out on a modular basis to allow flexible easily modified production layouts without additional investment in cabling, power distribution or other production line facilities. Cranage has been installed and two Mercian Gantry Cranes (1 x 2 tonne and 1 x 1 tonne) are available for purchase if required. Within the production complex, ten self-contained units, including a laboratory complete with temperature and humidity control, offer first class facilities for metrology quality assurance and technical development to the best standards. A plastics moulding and finishing bay can accommodate high volume production of precision plastics components.

The workforce has easy access to all site services including an integral restaurant area, with a village community, supermarkets postal and medical services less than 5 minutes from the production floor. All mains services are available.. Heating /cooling cassettes are installed in the offices. Fire precautions include a full sprinkler system in the production area.. All site communications are available including fibre links to the UK telecoms backbone with complete high integrity high-speed links (24Mb or more) to the global internet. Transport communications are good with Birmingham airport less than 90 minutes away to provide convenient global links to Europe, Asia and the Americas.
