The survey, conducted by www.caterer.com shows that over 49% of hospitality workers thoroughly enjoy their job, with only 23% admitting to the occasional thought of changing sectors and only 19% claiming to not feel any job satisfaction.

The results show the various job sectors and the percentage of people who are not only happy with their career, but feel genuinely dedicated and enthusiastic about their job;

Ian Burke from Caterer.com, a leading hospitality recruitment website, says he is not surprised by the findings;

“Hospitality employee’s work extremely hard, especially at this time of year and it’s fair to say the industry is rarely associated with passion or fun. For us, these results just confirm what we see every day; that hospitality workers really do love their jobs.”

Caterer.com has launched a series of satirical viral’s, called ‘Little Gordon’ and can be found at www.LittleGordon.com. They provide an over-the-top, yet humorous portrayal of life within the hospitality industry. ‘Little Gordon’, the 9 year old chef fully encompasses the discipline, passion and commitment of workers within the sector.

The second viral has launched this week and can be found at www.littlegordon.com/restaurant.php. It has already received 57,035 views. The first viral, released two weeks ago has received almost 135,000 views so far, on YouTube alone.

Ian Burke continues;

“The levels of positive feedback for the viral ads have been incredible, with many people enjoying seeing the light-hearted side to the industry. I hope Little Gordon and the latest statistics will bring a whole new, much-deserved reputation to the hospitality sector.”

The results, from over 4,300 participants, show that people within the hospitality sector are happier at work than those in sectors such as health care, charity and education; industries that require dedication to the lives of others and are considered to be the most fulfilling sector to work in.
