Ubiquitous Systems Ltd (Ubisys) is today announcing an exciting development for all users of Anoto Digital Pen and Paper solutions. “UNITY”, global on-line community forums and user groups, are aimed at bringing together users of digital pen and paper, regardless of who implemented their solution.

Although run independently, Ubisys will provide hosting, moderation and meeting space for the new ventures in an effort to encourage greater interworking and understanding between organisations. As Tarek Ghouri, MD at Ubisys, explains “After speaking to several users and potential users of Digital Pen and Paper technology, we realised that they were keen to share ideas, success stories, questions and best-practice with likeminded people but had no vehicle to do so. UNITY will provide this central point of contact in both on-line and Usergroup formats. The on-line forum found at is segmented into business and technology streams and Private and Public Sectors, allowing speedy access to relevant information and peers”.

Ghouri continues, “With Anoto technology so prevalent in the workplace, this is a key initiative that will bring users that all have a common interest closer together and allow them to extract the very best from their investment”

Iain Pickering, Operations Manager at Ubisys concludes. “We see the Usergroup being run by users, for users meeting regularly to discuss ideas for development, solutions and innovation and where they can share information to benefit both themselves and others”. To create this independence, we need an individual familiar with the technology to take the role of Chairman. Anyone interested in taking this lead and helping establish this important group should contact us as soon as possible.

“As the inventors of the Digital Pen and Paper technology we welcome and support Ubisys’ initiative. This type of global user community for sharing experiences and exchanging ideas is important for the development of the digital pen and paper community as a whole. We hope “UNITY” will serve as a meeting point for both existing and new users of digital pen and paper and help increase the knowledge about the usability of the technology in different application areas, ” says Ebba Åsly Fåhraeus, VP Sales and Marketing Forms at Anoto.

About Digital Pen and Paper

Digital Pen and Paper gives an organisation the opportunity to mobilise a workforce within weeks and without changing the working practice of the user. Simply by writing on normal paper which has had a pattern of tiny dots printed on it the pen captures hand writing and stores it in its memory. Once the form is complete the data is sent over a mobile network or by USB docking to Ubisys web hosted software. There hand writing recognition is performed and outputs to PDF, Word, Excel and XML can be developed enabling organisations to integrate tightly in to their backend applications. The first commercialised Digital Pen and Paper Technology was invented by Anoto AB and is widely deployed in various vertical markets including Health, Government, Field Service, Finance and Logistics.

Anoto Group AB Anoto Group is the company behind and world leading in the unique technology for digital pen and paper, which enables fast and reliable transmission of handwritten text into a digital format.
