... 3.1 product suite from hybris sets new standards in the design of creative and communication processes for publication management...

London – 26 August 2008 - hybris (www.hybris.com), a leading multi-channel communication and commerce software vendor, has announced the release of version 3.1 of its product communication platform. The newly developed hybris Print Suite is the cornerstone of this product suite; this module greatly simplifies the design and creation of print catalogues as well as cooperation needed with external service providers. As part of the overall 3.1 platform release, a media asset management (MAM) system has been integrated into the hybris PIM Suite, enabling all media objects, as well as their issue in various formats, to be managed centrally. New features in the basic product communication platform include a new monitoring and administration tool.

A summary of the 3.1 Product Suite is as follows:

Print Suite 3.1

The hybris Print Suite version 3.1 includes features that simplify the management and creation of publications. Now product managers can design individual catalogue pages by drag and drop and make changes using the mouse. Tables can be created faster and easier using the new table editor. A further advantage is that all layout templates, configurations and settings are stored centrally in the hybris system and can be accessed from any workstation. This is a decisive advantage with distributed product processes for catalogues – e.g. external service providers for layout, internal employees for content – as their creation is speeded up thanks to parallel access.

Furthermore, the direct export of product data into Adobe InDesign makes cooperating with agencies or internal marketing departments much easier. Design templates for catalogues can be imported directly from Adobe InDesign and used for automatic page generation in hybris Print Suite 3.1. This simplifies and speeds up the creation of catalogues and other print products such as product and price lists and handbooks. Furthermore, bi-directional data exchange is now possible with InDesign: all changes made to pictures and text information in InDesign and within the software from hybris is updated immediately on all other systems. It is also possible to determine whether all or only specific pieces of information are updated.

PIM Suite 3.1: Integrated media asset management

The hybris PIM Suite 3.1 enables very efficient management of product data. A new feature is the integration of a media asset management (MAM) system, to manage all media objects easily as well: pictures, photos and graphic files can be stored centrally and securely in the media asset management system and distributed simply, both within and outside companies. The new MAM system also adapts all objects within the familiar hybris management console so that they are in the appropriate output format. For example, all files are stored in high resolution, but are displayed with a lower resolution on the Web. The data can also be fed from the MAM system directly into Photoshop, Office applications or, for the production of print products, Adobe InDesign – and always in the correct format.

New monitoring tools

Administrators and developers can track the performance of their applications and monitor bottlenecks using newly integrated monitoring and administration tools with graphs displaying the current memory and CPU load. The Java Management Extension (JMX) is used to control all systems which are attached to the hybris communication platform – regardless of whether it is an ERP, CMS or CRM system.

Technical improvements

Another new feature is Spring, the open source application framework for the Java platform that simplifies software development with Java/JavaEE. Together with aspect-oriented programming (AOP), project timescales can be greatly reduced and changes executed faster. All editions of the hybris Suite 3.1 now also support the latest versions of Oracle, BEA and MySQL application servers and databases.
