-Offers effective, high quality educational courseware to
help customers maximise their return on information
technology investments-

Sybase Education has introduced a new training curriculum
designed to provide students with the optimal learning
experience. The new curriculum follows different 'tracks',
which define a logical sequence through the various course
offerings. Customers can benefit by using these tracks to
plan their own training needs.

The new, streamlined PowerBuilder developer curriculum has
been reduced from twenty days to only fourteen days
training. It focuses on the specific skills needed to become
productive with the technology in the shortest possible

With the release of Enterprise Application Studio 3.0,
Sybase Education has redesigned its tools development
curriculum. New users to Enterprise Application Studio can
follow one or more of the paths shown in the curriculum
flowchart, depending upon the type of application they are
developing and the language they are using. The courses are
also open to existing users, who can use them to facilitate
their transition to the new Enterprise Application Studio

Significant enhancements have also been made to the Fast
Track to PowerBuilder class. This class now integrates the
use of object-oriented programming techniques and
application partitioning work. The class also takes a new,
student-focused approach, using case studies and a
'learn-by-doing' model, both of which are proven techniques
for maximising the classroom experience for adult learners.
As a result, the student learns more in five days than was
possible in the previous eight day curriculum, and can apply
their new skills immediately they return to the office!

The advanced DataWindow class has also benefited from
changes to its structure. It focuses on the use of
DataWindow technology in PowerBuilder, Java and Web
applications. Students can choose to do the lab work using
either PowerBuilder or PowerJ, concentrating on the
capabilities of DataWindow, not the language with which it
is being implemented.

Finally, Sybase Education has introduced 3 new classes
focusing on Enterprise Application Server. The new classes
teach students how to migrate existing Web and Distributed
applications to the Enterprise Application Server
environment, create new Web and component based applications
for deployment to Enterprise Application Server and support
large scale web applications through Enterprise Application
Server clusters.

"We are really excited about the new curriculum and the
opportunities it offers, said Daryl King , operations
manager, Sybase Education. "The accelerating rate of change
in the workplace and ever faster introduction of new
technology has meant that learning has become a career-long
process. We hope that this new curriculum will give students
a real competitive edge in the workplace."
