Secerno Adds Sybase Support, Centralised Management and Capability to Process 210,000 Statements per Second to its Award-Wining Platform

Oxford, United Kingdom, September 4, 2008 – Secerno, the technology leader in database security, today launched Secerno.SQL 3.1 to extend its reach of database protection and deliver wider platform support, performance improvements and greater enterprise-wide scalability.

The award-winning Secerno.SQL platform has added support for Sybase to meet the needs of large enterprises with a wider range of database deployments, particularly those in the finance sector. Secerno.SQL also meets the growing performance requirements of large enterprises by increasing its processing to exceed 210,000 transactions per second.

With the latest version, Secerno also launches the enterprise controller appliance, which centralises the management of large scale Secerno.SQL deployments via a single management console and aggregates alerts and reporting across the organisation. This capability complements the ability of Secerno.SQL to integrate with external security information and event monitoring to further extend the platform’s aggregated, real-time alerts with zero false positives.

"We are delighted to introduce the v3.1 product release, which demonstrates how Secerno is leading the market and responding to customer demand in the rapidly evolving database security space,” said Steve Hurn, CEO of Secerno. “We made a commitment to our customers to broaden our portfolio and database support, deliver cost efficiencies through centralised management and reporting, as well as to increase the speed with which we process data. We’ve delivered on our promises and will continue to deliver on our promises; for example with support for blade servers coming in 2009.”

Secerno.SQL 3.1 also extends push-button reporting for compliance and database security management and adds reporting for HIPAA, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Data Protection Act. Large organisations can complete complex reporting in seconds with the push of a button, allowing easy compliance across all levels of the organisation.

Last month Secerno announced the availability of its Secerno.SQL solution as a virtual appliance on VMware platforms VMware ESX, VMware ESXi and VMware Server.

Secerno.SQL 3.1 is available immediately, on a hardware or virtual platform, and is priced from $36,000/£18,000.

About Secerno

Headquartered in Oxford, UK, Secerno provides the world’s most advanced, comprehensive and intelligent activity monitoring and database security solution, now uniquely available in both a hardware and virtual appliance.

The company offers the highest levels of protection against internal and external threats, optimises compliance auditing and delivers the ability to improve the security of applications. Its proprietary machine-learning technology automatically fingerprints the true intent of all database interactions, enabling organisations to see and prove with unprecedented granular analysis exactly how their databases are accessed.

At the core of all products is Secerno’s SynoptiQ technology, based on breakthrough research into efficient grammatical clustering. SynoptiQ analyses all database traffic to automatically fingerprint the true intent of all database requests. This enables organisations to see and prove with unprecedented granular analysis exactly how their data is accessed and changed. SynoptiQ automatically clusters database interactions with others of similar intent; highlighting areas of concern such as authenticated users abusing their privileges, attackers masquerading as authenticated users or any other form of SQL injection attack.

Uniquely, Secerno enforces a positive security policy of only approved behaviour, providing the option to either log, monitor, block or substitute database requests, all the while delivering zero false positives and eliminating the need for resource-intensive allow and block lists or externally-produced signatures

Secerno offers protection to customers across industries including financial services, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, retail, and government agencies and departments. The company is funded by UK investors Eden Ventures and SPARK Ventures. For more information, go to
