This unique package is based on the highly successful Youmanage product which incorporates a suite of modules, available at the click of a mouse, that cover the key aspects of employee management.
The Youmanage ‘toolkit’ can help small to medium sized businesses streamline their HR functions and improve employee productivity – for example, by highlighting high levels of absenteeism and providing managers with a strategy for tackling it.
The small business product, which is aimed at companies that do not have dedicated HR staff, contains a core employee database, which holds a raft of key information about employees which underpins a company’s people management processes.
It also has an absence and holiday module, which enables managers to record absences, timekeeping events, time-off-in-lieu or holidays easily with a few mouse clicks.
It also contains automated processes and prompts to ensure users comply with relevant policies and regulations (for example, self-certification or doctor’s certification), guidance on how to handle absenteeism, and enables managers to easily access detailed absence information or summary metrics, enabling problem areas to be quickly identified . Additionally the package comes with a full set of guidance and letter templates.
Absence triggers can also be set up in accordance with company policy, so that managers will be automatically alerted when trigger points are reached and prompted to take action. It also contains graphical time-planners help managers plan holidays and absences more effectively and easily.
With the average cost of absence to businesses hitting £666 per employee per year, according to the 2008 CIPD (Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development) Absence Management survey, the system can help businesses achieve real cost savings. Some 80% of respondents to the CIPD survey said that absence is a significant or very significant cost to their organisation, but just 28% recorded annual absenteeism levels. The CIPD said that recording the level of staff absenteeism is an essential starting point for managing absence effectively, and respondents to the survey said that tightened policies for reviewing attendance and improved absence monitoring were among the most effective ways to reduce absenteeism.
The small business package also walks managers through step-by-step processes for effectively managing starters and leavers, which helps employers ensure that new starters are managed into the business in a professional and effective way, that all relevant checks are carried out and that vital information on new employees and leavers is captured.
Employers can also add the discipline and grievance module, which takes managers through how to handle a disciplinary situation in a way that complies with the law, as an optional extra.
