Kamillosan Chamomile Ointment can help prevent and relieve sore nipples after breastfeeding, as well as other minor sore skin complaints. Containing natural chamomile, the ointment is gentle enough to be applied directly to the affected area and won’t interfere with the breastfeeding routine. Registered doula, Lucy Symons said: ‘Breastfeeding may start off as an uncomfortable experience before you get it right - but once you get the hang of it, there’s no need for sore nipples anymore. ‘During a breastfeeding session, sore nipples may be caused by positioning your baby incorrectly, making it difficult for the infant to latch on. If the baby has to suck or pull the nipple into the mouth this can cause you pain and soreness, making it difficult for you to continue to breastfeed. ‘If you do experience sore nipples, a smear of soothing nipple cream, like Kamillosan Chamomile Ointment, can help you heal between feeds. This can be applied directly to the affected area after breastfeeding and won’t interfere with the feeding routine.’ Breastfeeding can be hard enough for new mums without worrying whether they will be allowed to feed their baby in public whilst meeting friends for lunch. However, according to a recent poll carried out by Kamillosan Chamomile Ointment seven per cent of establishments questioned - which included a range of eating establishments across the nation from Italian, Spanish and Chinese restaurants to celebrity hotspots, cheap eateries, wine bars, country pubs and vegetarian restaurants – said they placed an outright ban on breastfeeding. - ends - Kamillosan Chamomile Ointment costs £4.95 for 50g and is available from major Boots stores, ASDA, Tesco and leading independent pharmacies. A further 15 per cent declared that breastfeeding was permitted if done discreetly. On the plus side, 61 per cent of eateries surveyed were perfectly happy with a woman to breastfeed her child in the restaurant.
