ChangeBASE AOK, the automated application compatibility software vendor, today announcesthat Man Investments Ltd, a subsidiary of Man Group plc and a leading global provider of alternative investment products, has signed a global agreement to use AOK software to help address its application compatibility challenges.

Operating in 13 countries, with key centres in London and Pfäffikon , Switzerland , and offices in Chicago , Dubai , Hong Kong, Montevideo , Nassau , New York , Singapore , Sydney , Tokyo and Toronto, Man Group plc. is listed on the London Stock Exchange (EMG) and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.

Georg Langlotz, Man Investments’ Global head of platform engineering commented: “Man Investments is embarking on a significant upgrade to its IT infrastructure. Initially, we are upgrading our standard desktop build to XP Service Pack 3. Over the next year to eighteen months we are planning to move to a later version of the OS and thin client/virtualisation technologies. We package our applications in-house with resources from the UK and Switzerland . However, this process is time consuming and expensive. Many of our applications, such as our trading systems, are business critical so it is essential that we get the application compatibility and packaging process correct.”

“We are implementing ChangeBASE AOK’s automated software to help with this on a new platform. AOK Fix-It automates much of the manual work needed to remediate the required changes, accurately packaging an application and ensuring that the quality standards we have for this process are met. Once deployed, AOK Business as Usual will then make sure that new, application-specific patches from software vendors do not break our production applications. We have also been working on ChangeBASE’s beta program with AOK Convert-It which allows us to drag and drop legacy applications into their workbench and report on the issues these will have on a new platform,” he said.

“Man Investments signed contracts with AOK earlier this month and were using the software within a week of signing. AOK is going to save us hundreds of man-days as we move to Microsoft XP SP3 and will do so again when we move to the latest OS on a virtualised environment. It also allows us to respond more rapidly to our users – as we will be able to deploy new applications more quickly. Our in-house developers will be assured that the applications they use have been put through an automated remediation tool with the assurance of the quality standards this delivers.”

Colin Gray, Sales Director of ChangeBASE AOK commented: ‘We are delighted to be working with one of the world’s largest hedge fund managers and can see real evidence of the benefit they get from using AOK. Credit goes to Georg and his team for having the forethought to automate much of what otherwise is a painstaking manual process, which can be prone to inconsistencies and has the potential for human error. This is especially true of large-scale, complex applications environments for multinational and global companies. It’s easy to see why Man reached out to ChangeBASE AOK. It’s gratifying to witness just how quickly they are realising the benefits.”
