Research carried out by the Homebuyer and Property Investor Show in the UK has confirmed Pafilia’s belief that Cyprus is the best place to retire to in the world.

The combination of zero inheritance tax, 5% tax on pensions, first class infrastructure such as medical and schools, low crime rate and easy access to all amenities and entertainment makes it an ideal choice for people from all over the world.

According to Evangelia Eliadou, executive director of Pafilia Property Developers, “We’re very pleased that the advantages of living in Cyprus are being recognised. If you look at the more exotic locations on offer, they may be fine for a few days, but after 2 weeks you are bored! In Cyprus, there is so much to do, whether it is sports, theatre, music, night classes, restaurants, nightclubs or, if you want to relaxing and get away from it all, there are world class spas and abandoned beaches. Also, when you retire, you have to think about the level of medical care you will receive– Cyprus’ is first class and has no waiting lists!”

This is further enhanced by the fact that Cyprus is a member of the EU, has joined the Euro, partnered by the ease of residency, the fact that driving is on the left and virtually everyone speaks good English. Nearly all bureaucracy is in both English and Greek and for those looking to buy, the process is very straightforward. Pafilia, for example, ensures that it helps its customers through every step of the process through to delivery of the property and after.

Cyprus is also easily accessible, its central position placing it a few hours flight from most European destinations and numerous other countries. In addition, its two International airports are currently being expanded to cope with an increased number of flights and passengers. Currently over 40 airlines fly to Cyprus from all over the world. It has also the sixth largest merchant fleet in the world and now marinas are being built around the island to develop it as a yachting destination, including a 1000 berth one in Paphos.

For those who like golf, the island currently has three 18 hole golf courses, all in the Paphos area. The oldest of these is in the village of Tsada and Pafilia will soon be making an announcement concerning this.

It’s not just retirees though who are flocking to Cyprus, it is people of all ages looking for quality of life. For those with young families who do not want to bring up their children in the UK, especially, it is becoming increasingly popular. As well as the low crime rate and family oriented culture, Cyprus has an excellent education system. There are plenty of good Greek schools, or you can opt for an inexpensive private school with an International, English, French, or other curriculum. Cyprus also is one of the most highly educated countries in the world, per head of population.

It is also impossible to discuss Cyprus without mentioning the people. They are amongst the friendliest people you will ever meet and their hospitality is legendary. As soon as you arrive in Cyprus, you feel like you have come home.
