Sanchita spent 18 months researching, testing and developing her idea to create a trusted online and offline community for young professionals living in, working in and relocating to cities, enabling users to make new friends in London and other cities like Brighton, Birmingham and Manchester. It encourages people to socialise with like minded others face-to-face in the real world, and not just in cyberworld.

She launched CitySocialising in January 2007, which has now become the UK’s leading events-based social networking site that connects 25 – 40 year old professionals, living in, working in and relocating to UK cities, with new, real-world local social networks and enables them to explore and enjoy their city’s social scene and attractions.

CitySocialising was one of over twenty businesses that were competing for the People’s Choice Award, and the winner was voted for online by the public, via the website.

Sanchita Saha said of winning the award: “I’m over the moon to have won the People’s Choice award for CitySocialising, more so because it was voted for by the public, and also as the standard of the competing businesses and their achievements was so high. CitySocialising has achieved a lot over the past 18 months, connecting thousands of young professionals across the UK with new, real-world social networks. It has lead to more people making friends in London and other key cities around the UK. Hopefully, winning this award will go some way in helping us raise the investment we need, to further develop the site and service in order to expand further in the UK and into Europe, and to make a positive difference to the lives of many more.”

Other awards were presented on the day by Big Issue founder John Bird and designer Pearl Lowe who said "I think the Girls! Make Your Mark Awards helps to provide a fabulous arena to showcase the brilliant efforts of female entrepreneurs in the UK today - I know from personal experience that it can be challenging running a start up business, whilst juggling other aspects of your life, this is why I feel it is important to support and help champion females who have gone it alone and are realising their dreams."
