London, 19 November 2008 - The organizers of the forthcoming Power and Cooling for Data Centres – World Forum (London 2-3 October – www.datacentres.com/pac) are delighted to announce APC by Schneider as a Diamond Sponsor of the event. Both APC and Upsite Technologies Inc will discuss innovations in Power and Cooling.
"We're thrilled to again be a signature sponsor of this dynamic data centre event, and pleased to be in the company of organizations such as Microsoft and eBay. With this year's focus on the economics of conservation, I feel Upsite’s presence is particularly meaningful. We research and develop data centre solutions that optimize existing infrastructure to save energy and cost, and reduce the global carbon footprint in the process. At the 2007 event, we launched our European operations with the opening of our offices in Utrecht, Netherlands; this year we're excited to be joined by our European distribution partner EDP”, said Peter Crook, CEO of Upsite Technologies, Inc.
APC will be represented by Jim Simonelli, Chief Technology Offier who will discuss the major role of power and cooling requirements in defining the efficiency or inefficiency of a datacenter. APC by Schneider has pioneered two major developments in this area and methodologies to enable IT to establish a predictable, repeatable power and cooling architecture. “Both these innovations encapsulate a new way of thinking; that is, that cooling solutions designed to tackle increasing densities need to focus more closely on the row rather than the traditional legacy focus on the room" commented APC.

This year’s speaker academy bring much thought leadership to the World Forum, including Michael Manos, General Manager, Data Centres at Microsoft Corporation, Jim Simonelli, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, APC, Mike Lewis, Senior Manager, Data Center Design and Strategy, eBay, Jose Iglesias, Vice President, Global Solutions, and Global Lead on Green Issues, Symantec, Lars Strong, P.E., Services Production Manager, Upsite Technologies, T. (Valdi) Sigurdsson, Iceland General Manager, Verne Global, Chris Santilli, CTO, Copan Systems, Alex Rabbetts, Managing Director, Migration Solutions, George Burnes, President and CEO, Smartcool Systems, Ian F Bitterlin, Chief Technical Officer, KST Europe Ltd and many more.

In addition the audience will hear from investors in new data centre build plans, and case studies of how power and cooling is being approached as well as new locations for data centres with land, connectivity and cheaper power resources.

Sponsors include Upsite Technologies, EDP, Invest in Iceland, Scottish Enterprise, Scottish Development International, Migration Solutions, Microsoft, Daxten, Jacarta, Relocom. The event is supported by BICSI who will be providing a special workshop and media Partners Data Centre Solutions and Data Centre News.

“The sheer range of challenges and critical factors impacting data centres uniquely brings together the leadership of providers and users, investors and vendors, managed service providers and specialist data centre facility owners,” commented Nicola Hayes, vice president of BroadGroup. “Power and Cooling enables a compelling opportunity for gaining deep market insight and high level networking. The World Forum sustains its reputation as the leading event focused on these challenges.”
