Real-time standards-based network resource reconciliation reduces network CAPEX and OPEX, lowers provisioning errors and improves service assurance

MENLO PARK, CA – September 18, 2008 - Intelliden Inc., a leading provider of Intelligent Networking solutions that enable organizations to control, manage and scale their networks, today announced the release of the Intelliden Discovery and Reconciliation application. This new application is designed specifically for multi-vendor converged IP networks, and provides real-time and continuous remediation of network resource data. It is an industry first discovery and reconciliation (D&R) application that tightly integrates network configuration, compliance and provisioning processes with network resource reconciliation. It also provides a standards-based normalized interface for easy integration with multiple third party applications such as Inventory, Fault Management, Service Management and Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

Network driven organizations spend significant resources in deploying, operating and maintaining their IP networks. Despite the mission critical nature of these networks, many organizations suffer from stranded network assets, dirty inventory and related data integrity problems. Traditional network reconciliation solutions – consisting of manual processes, home grown scripts or periodic batch synchronization methods – are inadequate for meeting the requirements of today’s dynamic, multi-vendor converged networks. They are also often disconnected with systems and processes such as network configuration management and provisioning, which are responsible for the network changes. Built upon the patented R-Series® platform, Intelliden Discovery and Reconciliation provides an accurate, real-time view of installed network assets leading to reduced provisioning fall-out, lower network capital and maintenance expenditure, faster fault resolution and improved capacity planning.

“Our studies show that a typical Tier 1 CSP operates with up to 35 percent of its network assets and components stranded - either lost or deployed erroneously,” said Arindam Banerjee, Director of Yankee Group’s Enabling Technologies Service Provider group. “Intelliden’s Discovery and Reconciliation application will help companies to more efficiently deploy their existing network infrastructure and improve overall integrity and management of critical network data.”

Intelliden Discovery and Reconciliation provides the following key capabilities and benefits for communications service providers (CSPs) and other network-driven organizations:

•Serves as a real-time source of multi-vendor IP network resources for third party applications thereby eliminating multiple network reconciliation silos.

•Continuously monitors and remediates device changes to enable accurate and timely reconciliation of critical network resource data.

•Shields third party applications from device specific characteristics through a normalized view of network resources.

•Provides seamless integration with Intelliden’s network configuration, compliance and provisioning applications resulting in a single control plane for managing network changes and resource data

•Scales to meet requirements of the largest and most transaction-intensive network environments.

•Incorporates a web services oriented, event driven interface based on TeleManagement Forum (TMF) standards for rapid integration.

“Accurate, real-time insight and management of network resources helps organizations to optimize their existing equipment instead of purchasing new hardware that they may not need,” said Alan Black, President and CEO of Intelliden. “Intelliden’s new Discovery and Reconciliation applications enables network driven organizations to reduce network related CAPEX and OPEX as well as improve network provisioning accuracy, fault resolution times and overall network data integrity.”
Serving as a foundation for the Discovery and Reconciliation application, the Intelliden R-Series® platform continuously maintains the real-time state of the network. It serves as an abstraction layer for the underlying network by translating the device configuration information-irrespective of vendor, type, model and operating system (VTMOS)-into standardized device models.
