London, 22 September 2008 - SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT, an environmental world leader with 12 billion Euros in revenues in 2007, has implemented PolySpot’s search and navigation solution to help staff leverage over 5 million internal and external documents from various information sources.

SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT required a more efficient and responsive search solution that would offer a richer enterprise search. PolySpot, a leading provider of enterprise search solutions provided a platform to facilitate rapid access to documents from numerous sources in many different formats, both structured and unstructured, including; the corporate intranet, Lotus Notes, email servers and external web sites. This content is then automatically federated to provide advanced retrieval capabilities to the end-users without the need for any manual intervention.

A pilot project was carried out and a number of solutions tested. In the end, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT selected PolySpot Enterprise Search not only for its performance in automatically assembling search results, but also for its ease of deployment, flexible adaptation to the internal organisation and reasonable cost in relation to other solutions currently available.

"The project has been named ‘Sharelock’ naturally, this name is a reference to Sherlock Holmes as testimony to the tool's searching power, but it is also made up of the words 'share' and 'lock', which carry special meaning here in that the solution is designed to facilitate the sharing of information while also offering optimal security of all data indexed", explained Philippe Fontaine, Intranet Project Manager with Information Systems at SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT.

The project has attracted a great deal of attention throughout the group. Given the quality and speed of the search results and the ease of access to the application, other subsidiaries of SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT have demonstrated interest in adopting the same solution.

"The eventual objective is to enable sharing of indices among every company in the group (Sita, Degrémont, etc.) - as they opt in turn to adopt PolySpot - in order to create a common search platform for all environment-related information,” explained Fontaine.

SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT and its subsidiaries are committed to the daily challenge of protecting resources and ecosystems. The company provides innovative solutions to millions of people and industries in the drinking water, wastewater treatment and waste management fields.
With 62,000 employees and a worldwide presence, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT has secured a position as world leader exclusively dedicated to the environment.

In 2007, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT attained revenues of € 12 billion and intends to invest € 65 million in R&D in 2008
