World Archipelago Ltd., the award winning UK digital agency, has announced the appointment of Geoff Metzger as Managing Director of the Company. Mr Metzger, formerly MD at The History Channel UK, will be taking up the position at the end of September 2008.

Mr Metzger, who has 30 years experience in the media, has been hired to manage the Company’s expanding business and drive its growth strategy. Reporting to the Board of Directors, he will take charge of World Archipelago’s UK property and media businesses as well as its U.S. interests.

Commenting on Mr Metzger’s appointment, Mark Harvie Watt, owner and co-founder of World Archipelago said, ‘Our business is growing very fast as more and more money moves from traditional marketing to the Internet. We recognised that we needed someone of Geoff’s experience to manage that growth and to better position our Company strategically in a very competitive marketplace. We are very pleased that he has decided to join us.’

About Geoff Metzger
Geoff Metzger is a media executive with 30 years experience in the United States, Europe and Asia. He began his career as a documentary film editor, writer and producer in the U.S. where his work has been shown on HBO, PBS and NBC. In 1984 he went to work in Italy where he produced programmes for the RAI and Mediaset. In 1991 he became General Manager for Prime Sports, STAR TV’s first pan-Asian network.

In 1996 he was appointed Managing Director of The History Channel U.K., a joint venture between BSkyB and American broadcaster AETN. During his tenure, the Company grew from a single UK television channel to a network of six digital brands distributed throughout the UK and Ireland, and across Northern and Central Europe and Africa.

Mr Metzger has also been an active campaigner on behalf of satellite and cable broadcasters and, as a member of the Broadcasting Policy Group, was one of the authors of Beyond the Charter, an analysis of the issues raised by the 2006 BBC Charter review
