The Perfect Public Relations Masterclass, a new training event aimed at organisations that want to do their own PR, will take place in central London on 21 October.
The event, launched by New Venture Publishing, comes at a time when more organisations are looking to win more value from their PR spend in the face of tougher economic conditions.
“Organisations that want to handle their own PR frequently have a limited budget and a finite amount of time,” said author and journalist Peter Bartram, one of the Masterclass’s co-presenters.
“The aim of our event is to show in-house marketing and PR people how they can maximise their return from both,” added marketing and PR consultant Lizz Clarke, managing director of LCM Marketing, the other co-presenter.
The one-day event is based round 11 practical modules. These range from a hard-nosed look at what works and what doesn’t in PR, through practical sessions on writing a PR plan from scratch, to step-by-step guides on common PR tasks such as pitching an interview idea to a journalist, or writing a press release that gets published.
The Perfect Public Relations Masterclass draws on New Venture Publishing’s continuing research programme with editors and journalists. The programme, which has questioned more than 150 journalists in the past two years, is designed to find ways to make public relations activity more effective.
