SOUTHAMPTON, UK: 23.09.08: Fibercore Limited has been recognised by Northrop Grumman Corporation Electronic Systems with an award for “Raising the Bar in Performance”. Fibercore Limited is a Strategic Supplier for Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) Electronic Systems producing specialty optical fiber in support of several fiber-optic gyro navigation systems.

The award was presented during NGC Electronic Systems’ 2008 supplier conference where the theme was “Raising the Bar in Performance.” This all day event included presentations by key sector leadership responsible for supplier management, supplier awards and a reception for the award recipients. The NGC Electronic Systems Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Mission Assurance (MA) organisations co-hosted the 2008 Supplier Conference and Awards event at the Historical Electronics Museum in Linthicum, Maryland, USA.

The NGCES supply base is an essential component of the success of programs, and Northrop Grumman must have a supply base that it can depend on for consistent high quality, on-time delivery, cost competitiveness, innovation, and continuous improvement of processes and product. The award categories represent the supplier behaviours, attributes or outcomes that Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems value, including: Customer Service, Strategic Contributions, Continuous Improvement, Innovation, Extraordinary Effort, Life Cycle Cost and overall highest contributor, Supplier-of-the-Year.

Fibercore Limited Managing Director Dr Chris Emslie was delighted to receive the award, commenting, “We pride ourselves as being the most technically advanced specialty optical fiber manufacturer in the fiber-gyro sector. Equally importantly we promote a consultative relationship with our clients that provide them with the benefit of our knowledge and experience gained over three decades in the industry. We are very aware that in a niche market, customer focus is the key to success. Fibercore has assisted both Northrop Grumman’s development work and its manufacturing ramp-up by leveraging the quality of our fiber and the depth of our experience addressing the customer’s specific needs. This award will help focus and motivate Fibercore to raise the bar even higher in years to come.”
