NetDynamics has announced availability of the world’s first comprehensive platform for integrating, managing and developing open enterprise network applications to drive business innovation. Businesses will no longer face problems integrating disparate systems, developing business critical applications or distributed application management in real-time.

NetDynamics 4.0 has been built to enable businesses to leverage and integrate their existing software and hardware investments into innovative and network applications with unprecedented scalability. The platform has been built using industry standard architecture CORBA and IIOP and JAVA for distributed object computing. NetDynamics 4.0 will be available in November 1997. Already, 20 Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) have committed to integrating their technology with the NetDynamics platform.

Vic Morris, NetDynamics’ vice president and general manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: "The bottom line for ISVs and integrators is that they will be able to deliver whatever their customers want.

"The next leap forward in computing will be the emergence of more flexible inter and intra-enterprise networked business systems. In the past, there has been a barrier to this kind of deployment because of the complexity of real-time management of distributed applications that interact with a multitude of enterprise systems. NetDynamics 4.0 provides unified integration, by which I mean, with 4.0, businesses will be able to produce applications that can interact with any data and any system - whether legacy, client/server, or Net-based. In short, NetDynamics 4.0 will break barriers and global businesses will be able to reap huge benefits through the deployment of a new breed of applications."

NetDynamics 4.0 enterprise network application platform consists of:

NetDynamics Application Server is a high-performance, CORBA-based Java application server which delivers true distributed object processing, state and session management for both HTML and Java applications, data integration with RDBMS or any type of enterprise data and a comprehensive security framework that addresses the complex security issues of Web-based transactional computing.

The NetDynamics Command Center enables real-time, local and remote management and monitoring of enterprise applications. Through the Java-based Command Center, administrators can add/remove platform components, distribute components across machines, and view custom or pre-built statistics and alerts, either locally or remotely. NetDynamics is the first vendor to provide a means of active administration of a Web application platform, providing customers with optimum performance and system availability.

NetDynamics Platform Adaptor Components (PAC) - Built on a CORBA infrastructure, NetDynamics PACs provides a framework and tools for easy visual integration of enterprise systems. Customers can create their own PACs from legacy or packaged applications, or purchase PACs from NetDynamics or third parties, and integrate them into the server infrastructure. These components receive all the benefits of the NetDynamics application server - scalability, security, management - as well as full visual support during development.

NetDynamics Java Object Framework - The Java Object Framework consists of over 400 classes and 4,000 methods and is designed to increase programmer productivity and expedite time-to-market. The Java Object Framework is delivered with of the NetDynamics Studio and the NetDynamics Application Server.

NetDynamics Studio - NetDynamics Developer Studio is a full-featured IDE for developing powerful Java enterprise applications. In addition to a complete set of wizards for creating both HTML and Java applications, the NetDynamics Studio includes full support for Team Development, through integration with leading packages such as PVCS, ClearCase, and Visual SourceSafe. It also includes an integrated debugger which can debug remote applications via IIOP.

NetDynamics 4.0 will be available throughout Europe from channel partners - distributors, value-added resellers and systems integrators - and a starter package that includes five Developers, a 25-user Application Server and support will be available for $14,000.
Components can be bought separately as follows:

NetDynamics Application Server, enabled for Platform Adaptor Components, starts at $7,500 supporting 25 concurrent user sessions with additional concurrent user sessions priced at $300 each. The application server can also be purchased in a database-only version.

NetDynamics platform adaptor components for PeopleSoft or SAP start at approximately $5,000 supporting 25 concurrent user sessions with additional user sessions priced at approximately $200 each.

NetDynamics Developer (includes Studio and single-user Application Server) is available at approximately $895 per developer.
