Haulfryn Group awards the design and build contract to Pinelog

Windsor, 30 September 2008 – Haulfryn Group, the residential and holiday park specialist, continues it’s investment in holiday locations and awards a contract to Pinelog to design and build a new indoor leisure complex at Gimblet Rock, near Pwllheli, Gwynedd.

Rod Tucker, CEO, The Haulfryn Group explained: “Gimblet Rock is a well established, five star Haulfryn location where we wanted to invest in new leisure facilities for our discerning customers. Pinelog had carried out similar projects for us at Barmouth Bay, near Harlech and Glan Gors, Anglesey and we were extremely pleased with their work. Over the years we have enjoyed an excellent working relationship and we trust that the prestigious project at Gimblet Rock will be just as successful.”

Gimblet Rock sits in a stunning location on a sandy thread of land which is almost totally surrounded by water. On one side there are the sheltered waters of Pwllheli and its splendid marina and, on the other side, there is the Irish Sea. The beach spreads along the coast towards the mountains in the distance. Designed to blend into this extraordinary coastal location, the new £900,000 Haulfryn leisure complex will house: an indoor swimming pool with integral children's splash pool; a fitness suite; a sauna; changing rooms; and a reception area. There will also be a bar and restaurant with stunning views over the sea.

The building’s ‘green’ credentials are as important as its looks to Haulfryn, so the new timber frame leisure complex will be constructed using natural materials wherever possible. Considerable time savings will be achieved thanks to the offsite production of the timber framed structure, which was designed and manufactured in Pinelog’s specially equipped factory in Derbyshire. Other benefits of this method of construction include a reduction in labour costs, less waste, less disruption on site and a reduction in safety risks.

Commenting on the build, Ian Grant, Marketing Director, Pinelog, said: "Winning this contract further endorses our ability to produce outstanding designs and manage commercial projects, large and small. We have the expertise and resources to support such contracts with success."

The new Gimblet Rock leisure complex is on schedule to be finished by the end of 2008.
