LONDON, October 7, 2008 – Camwood, the UK's leading application migration and change specialist, today announced it was engaged via Microsoft Consulting Services (MCS) to complete an Application Compatibility Assessment for Windows® Vista™ for the London Ambulance Service’s application estate. The London Ambulance Service is the largest free ambulance service in the world, caring for more than one and a half million patients every year.
Camwood was able to deliver a workshop back to the London Ambulance Service project team within a week, detailing all of the application compatibility issues they may face. For the assessment the Camwood team used AppTitude, a software solution from AppDNA that uses automated testing algorithms to carry out the application compatibility testing required across the entire application estate in a fraction of the time it takes to test manually. The results from the assessment were delivered in an easy to read report using a “traffic light system” that highlighted the applications that would migrate with no issues (green); those that would require further testing (amber); and those that would require remediation work (red).
The results of the assessment showed that initially only 61% of the applications would migrate easily to Vista. However, adopting the recommended remediation actions, Camwood was able to increase the compatible applications to 82%. This left the London Ambulance Service with 11% of their applications that required upgrades from the vendor and a further 7% that needed further testing.
This approach enabled the London Ambulance Service to make informed decisions and focus their application testing on a small percentage of their application estate. Steve Jeffery, project manager, London Ambulance Service said: “Through the work delivered by Camwood, we were able to have our entire application estate tested in a two week timeframe. If we hadn’t been able to identify where to focus our efforts, we would have spent four to six weeks manually testing applications. The Camwood solution has saved us considerable time, effort and money on testing.”
“The results at the London Ambulance Service are further confirmation of the market-leading Camwood solution to Application Compatibility. Through the combination of AppTitude, the automated application compatibility testing solution from AppDNA, and skilled Camwood consultants, we are able to deliver Application Compatibility Assessments for our clients in efficient, cost-effective timescales,” commented Frank Foxall, CEO, Camwood.
