New Venture Training has announced a new date for its Perfect Pitch Masterclass, a training course on how to pitch article and interview ideas, as well as press briefings, to journalists.
The course will take place in London on Thursday 23 October and booking is now open.
The half-day course is based on a research project in which 75 editors and senior journalists from a wide range of newspapers and magazines explained what they want when they receive pitches from PR professionals.
The research revealed that the average journalist receives 51 pitches a week from PR people – but some newspapers and magazines get hundreds a week.
The course is based around 11 modules which take participants through every stage of preparing different kinds of pitches. Course segments deal with how to use a synopsis to pitch an article, how to pitch an interview opportunity, how to prepare and make a telephone pitch and many other topics.
The Perfect Pitch Masterclass is based on a 69-page Workbook which contains comprehensive notes as well as dozens of comments from editors and journalists about what they want (and don’t want) from PR pitches.
The course presenter is author and journalist Peter Bartram, who has written seven books on media and communications topics.
There is more information about the Perfect Pitch Masterclass, which is also available as an in-house course, at http://www.perfectpitchmasterclass.co.uk
Other New Venture Training events include the Perfect Press Release Masterclass, the Writing for Publication Masterclass, and the Perfect Interview Masterclass.
