Technology innovations company Proxama is sponsoring the next Mobile Monday London event. The event (18.30, October 13, 2008, CBI Conference Centre at Centre Point) will look at how near field communication (NFC) can be used for marketing and media applications.
The evening will draw on lessons learned from recent NFC trials and will investigate comparisons with other mobile technologies including QR codes and Bluetooth. In addition, it will look at new applications including smart posters, contactless payments and service discovery. Attendees will also be able to experience NFC and smart posters first hand, trying out payment and service discovery applications.
Victoria Richardson, head of marketing at Proxama and a speaker at the event, said: “NFC makes the mobile phone an interesting device for a wide range of organisations looking to develop deeper customer relationships. A key part of the appeal is the easy integration with the existing infrastructure for card-based payment, vouchering and loyalty applications. By tapping into this infrastructure, NFC solves the redemption puzzle which has stumped many other mobile-based propositions.”
Claire Maslen, head of NFC for O2 in the UK, will also take the stand to talk about the recent London Oyster trial.
The evening is free to attend for Mobile Monday members by registering at www.mobilemonday.org.uk. Non-members can join Mobile Monday free at www.mobilemonday.org.uk.
