Enhancing the virtual meeting experience with four fold increase in video resolution and up to 16 user videos in a single stream

Guildford, UK. 28th October 2008 - Visual Nexus today announced the release of its upgraded virtual meeting solution, Visual Nexus Version 4, which supports high quality 4CIF video on standard desktop computers using a WebCam over a standard broadband connection. In addition, the new video synthesis function can display up to 16 video images transmitting them in a single compressed video stream. Finally, the virtualization of the meeting server is now complete enabling different organizations or departments to use the same meeting server as if it were their own private system. Version 4 is available now at the same price as the previous version of the product, significantly improving price performance.

Visual Nexus brings high quality video, voice and data collaboration for face-to-face virtual meetings. It is an affordable, secure and easy to use solution, offering dispersed teams the ability to work together regardless of where they are located.

Visual Nexus 4 improvements cover three main areas developed in direct response to customer requirements and improved industry standards. These are:

Enhanced video quality: Visual Nexus already boasts high quality video images in virtual meetings held over standard broadband connection speeds. The new version 4 provides virtual meeting participants a four fold increase in video resolution, even over broadband connections as low as 384Kbs. With Visual Nexus own endpoint, the higher video resolution may be achieved even with normal webcams and does not require any special video equipment on the personal computer.
New video synthesis function: The number of video images that may be displayed is now increased to 16 using the new video synthesis function. This is a continuous presence system where the multiple videos are mixed into a single video stream. As people join a meeting their video is automatically tiled into the image. Visual Nexus scales such virtual meetings to hundreds and even thousands of participants.
Virtualization of the meeting server: The meeting server has a multi-tenanted option which enables individual clients or departments to share a server within a virtual private environment. These ‘virtual’ tenants can administer their own user accounts and set up their own virtual meeting rooms.
“The new version of Visual Nexus is a perfect solution for companies seeking to improve the productivity of dispersed teams at a time of difficult market conditions. Companies already equipped with video conferencing systems are also likely to increase their systems by adding desktop video to their communications mix.” said Atsuhisa Suzuki, President of Visual Nexus Company at OKI. “

Visual Nexus version 4 is not only used for face-to-face meetings among dispersed teams, but is also for meetings requiring sharing of data or fully interactive collaboration of applications on desktop computers. It can also be used for remote education, training, interviews, consultations, etc. Visual Nexus version 4 can be supplied as a stand alone meeting server (MCU) creating virtual meeting rooms accessed by traditional video conferencing systems, or as a total solution including the Visual Nexus desktop client and the Visual Nexus Secure Transport for secure communications across network boundaries.
