Turnover Up by 13%
Operating Profit Up by 103%

The recruitment division of the RTC Group Plc, which comprises ATA Selection and the on-track labour supply business Ganymede, has announced an impressive set of interim results for the six months to June 30, 2008 further reinforcing its position in the marketplace.

Not only has turnover risen by 13 per cent, to £9.9 million but operating profit has grown by 103 per cent, to £610,000 with an increase in contractor numbers evident.
ATA Selection, which has a network of ten regional offices across the UK from Glasgow to Slough, attributes its performance to the quality of its people as well as its ability to identify and operate in niche markets despite difficult trading conditions.

ATA Selection operates within a number of specific vertical markets and specialises in engineering, rail, technical sales, construction and renewable energy recruitment, providing skilled permanent and contract workers of varying levels to companies ranging from SMEs to multinationals throughout the UK.

Over 100 consultants are employed across the UK, each of whom are experts both in specific markets and their regional marketplace.
The company has also embarked on an ambitious expansion programme by targeting the fast-emerging energy market.

The firm already has consultants with extensive knowledge at recruiting for within this sector based from its Manchester office recruiting nationally and within the Republic of Ireland, but is planning to extend its reach.

The company has also bolstered its Scottish presence with the opening of an office in Glasgow.
It is a strategy which is paying off and Chairman Bill Douie said he was 'very confident' that the well-respected firm's rivals would find it difficult to replicate its market position and current standing.
He said: "We have approached our business with a sound and successful strategy.

"We have positioned the group with product clarity, exemplary senior management and a well trained and motivated group of employees across all our businesses.

"This is progressing in line with the board's timeline and there is clear evidence that the steps we are taking are beginning to deliver improved strategic cohesion.

"Combine this with a broad holistic service offering and we feel many of our competitors will find our success difficult to replicate."

In structure and management, under the leadership of Andy Pendlebury, the Group Chief Executive, RTC has continued to develop, enhance and add to its senior management team.

It has appointed managing directors for both ATA Selection and Ganymede.

Name (Bill Douie or Andy Pendlebury) commented: “ATA Selection has produced an excellent set of results in the first half of the year but we are not complacent. Consistency is key and it is important that we not only continue to maintain but exceed the level of service we are providing to our clients to ensure that we retain our competitive edge.

“The next six months will undoubtedly present a number of challenges but we have built a robust structure which provide us with strong foundations on which we intend to continue to build.”
